This programme is available for puppies who are new the world of grooming. This is highly recommended to set your new puppy up for a lifetime of happiness, health and enjoyable grooming salon visits.
Puppy Grooming Socialisation Programme
Over the course of 4 different visits, we will gently and carefully introduce your puppy to the salon environment, to build a trusting relationship in which your puppy can rely on us to listen to their needs and feel relaxed with us. We will not rush your puppy at any stage of the grooming process, and will build happy memories, using positive reward & play-based games, cooperative care training, and gentle desensitisation so that your puppy is set up for a lifelong happy relationship with grooming.
Puppy Socialisation Schedule
Your Puppy’s First Visit:
Your pup will be welcomed into the salon to have a good explore - If they are confident they can hop onto the grooming table and bath for a sniff, have their paws, ears and tail handled and of course lots of rewards to boost the positive association with the equipment and being handled! If they’re slightly unsure, we’ll take a slower, more minimal approach so they don’t get too overwhelmed.
KEY INTRODUCTIONS
Your Pup’s Second Visit:
We’ll pick up where we left off after the first visit letting them mooch around the salon, have their feet and ears touched and then gradually introduce your pup to the louder sounds in the salon (in the background of course); introduce them to things such as the bath hose, the blasters/dryers, clippers and scissors. This is done in a gentle, controlled manner so a positive association is built with grooming and it is not stressful to your puppy whilst rewarding them throughout. If ready, we’ll do an ear clean and nail clip on this session!
Your Pup’s Third Visit:
If ready, your pup will have a nice relaxing bath and gentle dry! Now your pup is used to being in the salon with us, and we’ve gained their trust, they’re ready to have their paws and hygiene areas trimmed.
Your Pup’s Fourth Visit:
Your pup has mastered being handled & pampered! When they’re ready - (we’re aiming for 4 sessions but no worries if more are needed) your pup will come for their full puppy grooming session, where they will come in for their first full groom: wash, blowdry, brush, paws & hygiene areas trimmed and puppy cologne spray!
Upon a successful Full Groom, puppies will receive their Graduation pack, including a certificate, treatment voucher and a pack of treats!
The puppy programme is a one-off investment of £150 and only available in our Uxbridge location.
Please note, some puppies may require more than 4 sessions but this can be discussed and arranged at no additional cost. Puppies should be fully vaccinated by the start of the socialisation schedule.
PUPPY GRADUATIONS
This service has been developed to help owners who have adopted a dog who may seem anxious when it comes to grooming. Our introduction for Nervous Dogs is perfect for rescue, adolescent or adult dogs that have developed fear aggression due to experiencing trauma with humans and/or other dogs.
Our goal is to reinforce positive association with all aspects of grooming without having to muzzle them. We will ensure that your pet is the only dog in the salon, receiving our undivided attention and one on one time.
We will give your dog the space and comfort they require to make them feel at ease in our presence and slowly begin to introduce the grooming tools and noises, to help us understand which areas require further attention.
Our initial 1-hour introductory session will help us get a better understanding of your dog's requirements and we will be able to see if further sessions will help or if your pet will require professional training from a specialist.
